Form Submission Abnormally Slow ... help?

  1. Hi,

I've got a form up and running on a site, it's setup as a "muliple choice" with radio buttons ..

    Question:
    1- yes
    2- no
    3 - doesn't apply.

it's a poll that changes every so often ... I noticed that the form submission takes several seconds ... like 20-30 seconds on average...

Any pointers on what could be wrong?

Do you have any caching plugins installed? Can you give me more information on your set-up? Do you have a link to the form?

  4. The hosting is with godaddy, no caching plugins enabled.

both the mailchimp subscribe form and the poll on the home page in the sidebar have the same issue.

Your entire site loads very slow for me. You might want to talk to Godaddy about increasing the memory available to PHP and WordPress - http://www.nerdgrind.com/increase-wordpress-and-php-memory-limit/

Some other thoughts - Upgrade your WordPress to 3.3.2 and double check with Godaddy that your database isn't having any issues (they should be able to check logs).

What other plugins do you have running? You are right that the form submission is running oddly slow, but I can't see any JavaScript issues or anything. And the data is being sent as I see the confirmation, so it isn't timing out or anything.

When you change the poll, do you create a new form or just change the form embedded there?

  7. I've checked out the memory usage ... currently it's set to:
    PHP Memory Limit: 64M
    and it says:
    Memory Usage Sampling: 34,40 MB

Would it make a difference to ask for an increase with godaddy?

Also I noted that the system overview displayed load averages in red of 5.03 4.95 4.84

Would this be considered normal? I'm guessing since it's on a shared hosting environment.

  8. I change the form, and simply change the form selected in the gravit forms widget. Plugins wise the only one that would be heavy on system ressources is the WPML localisation plugin. currently the site is French only but the client is working on the english translations.

Yes, please try to get 128MB of memory. At peak, the memory might be coming close to your limit. Your load averages, even on a shared environment should probably not be so high. You might want to contact them about this as someone might be using more than their fair share. You should also ask them about database IO as that is one of the big things that happens when a form is submitted (push data to database).
