Format Field as Currency, error "Please enter a valid number"

    i am using this code
    http://gravitywiz.com/format-field-as-currency/
    on number field, but as i expected it trows an error because "$1,000.00"
    is a string not a number, so is there a way to bypass this error?

    hope someone can help me :D

    If you use a normal text input field, this problem should resolve itself, no?
