Free trial with no PayPal details taken till after the free trial expires

  1. Not sure if this is possible with these two add-ons but...

...is there any way (either as standard or with customisation) to have the PayPal/User Registration add ons work so that someone can have a free trial (for say, 14 days) and register for a new multi-site website at the same time, but they're only asked for their PayPal details after the 14 days is up?

(Presumably if they don't supply their PayPal details at that point they're rolled back to a Subscriber level and/or their site is put onto hold until they do pay)

    Thanks, Nick

  2. Nope. This isn't possible. The PayPal integration takes place at the time the form is submitted. So it couldn't be done with the existing Add-Ons. The way PayPal handles Free Trials is it takes the information up front, and then after 14 days it automatically starts billing them unless they cancel before those 14 days is up.

If the PayPal Add-On is used with the User Registration Add-On, the user and site creation (if using that option) is not triggered until after PayPal confirms payment. Nothing is created until PayPal communicates back via IPN and gives the thumbs up.
