"From" e-mails are ending with "via xxx.xxx.com" - host says it's a code is

  1. Hi, the forms on my site are working great, however when an email is received the "from" field is trailing with "via Desmond.asmallorange.com", I emailed support and they told me it would be in the script that that verbiage is added to the senders name. Can you please advise on how I can fix this ASAP?

    Thank you

  2. Can you post a link to your live form? Will that appear in a notification email to me if I submit your form? Also, at what domain (email address) are you receiving the emails?

  3. Yes, what is your email? Id rather not post the link here. It is showing up on the two service I've tested: yahoo mail and gmail.

  4. You can send the link to chris@rocketgenius.com

About a month ago, Gmail started adding an additional "via" link this in their message view (right next to the name or email address, between that and the date). It presents itself in a couple different ways. Here's what it looks like for some mail I received today:

Here's the explanation from Google about why it's there and what it means:

    Maybe that's what you're seeing?

  5. Chris, I believe that is what it is. From what I gather, I need to set an SPF record with my registrar, however there aren't any very clear directions on how to do that online that I can find. Doing research on it right now.

  6. That is not added by Gravity Forms at all, so I think that's what it is too. It goes away after Gmail learns that you communicate regularly with that party, but for notifications from your site to your customers, if they use Gmail, they would see that, and click the "via" link. That's what I did :-)

Rocketgenius will be releasing an Add-on for more reliable email delivery service in the future:

  7. Interestingly, another user posted a screenshot for an unrelated issue, and you can see exactly what you are describing in his screenshot as well. This is Gmail as well.
