Gravity Forms crashes Headway blog

  1. After activating the gravity plug-in the site http://www.bierzeitung.ch went down and was not accessible at all. Deinstallation of the plugin over ftp made the site accessible again. Same problem after deactivating all other templates bevor activating the gravity forms-plugin. I want my money back.

  2. It sounds as though your installation process didn't complete properly. This happens with WordPress occasionally and isn't necessarily an issue with Gravity Forms itself. Did you use the automated installer and if so, have you tried re-installing the plugin manually via FTP?

Also, as I mentioned in my previous email, our refund policy requires that you let us assist you and that you allow us access to debug and help resolve any functionality issues. If we find that the plugin simply won't work on your web host or there are other extenuating circumstances, we'll be happy to consider a refund. Most likely, with just a little work, we can have you up and running and it's not an issue.

  3. I uploaded the plugin by ftp ( I put the unzipped folder named gravityforms in the plugins folder of the headway theme). How can I provide you with the acces infos (not public)? You can try by yourself.

  5. This is most likely going to be a server resources issue, specifically a PHP memory issue.

You don't explain what "crash" means. Do you get an error? Do you get nothing but a white screen? So I don't have much to go on. But if you activate Gravity Forms and your site quits working then most likely you have run out of available PHP Memory.

Gravity Forms works perfectly fine with Headway, they wouldn't be a partner of ours if they did not. So the issue isn't compatibility, the issue is going to be specific to your site or server setup with PHP memory being what I would suspect in this situation.

Hosts typically default to a low amount of PHP Memory. The more complex your theme and plugins are, the more PHP memory you will need to run your site. Headway is a very complex theme and has higher than normal PHP memory demand compared to simpler themes. Gravity Forms is also a complex plugin, so it's going to demand more PHP memory than much simpler plugins.

The first thing I would suggest is increasing your available PHP memory. You may need to get in touch with your host if you are unsure how to handle this yourself. Here is a tutorial:

  6. Thanks, Carl. It was in fact a PHP memory problem. I keep the plugin (witch is really nice), you keep the money. Case solved.
