HELP! Gravity Forms cannot be found!?

  1. Hi, I've been using Gravity Forms successfully (I've had a 'Contact' and 'Job Application' form up) since purchasing a license on September 4th.

However, today, it doesn't seem to be working and I have NOT removed the Gravity Forms plugin. I get some kind of error saying

    "Gravity Forms cannot be found

The Gravity Forms plugin must be installed and activated for the Gravity Forms Addons plugin to work.

If you haven't installed the plugin, you can purchase the plugin here. If you have, and you believe this notice is in error, start a topic on the plugin support forum."

I saw the answer to: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/wordpress-error-message-when-downloading-cannot-find-forms

However, my Gravity Forms WAS working and it seems to have spontaneously STOPPED working and I'm not sure why.

  2. ps. When I tried to upload the .zip file again, just in case it had spontaneously deleted itself (!?), I got this message:

    Unpacking the packageā€¦

    Installing the pluginā€¦

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/87/8303687/html/wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/

    Plugin install failed.

  3. It looks like Gravity Forms is not active. That error is from an Add-On that won't work without Gravity Forms being active. Just because the files are there doesn't mean that the plugin is active. You need to go to your Plugins page and view all plugins and look for Gravity Forms and see if it is active or not.

  4. Hi Carl, I've looked at the plugin page, but Gravity Forms isn't even listed??

  5. Then it looks like something is wrong with your WordPress site, your server, or the Gravity Forms files.

You need to FTP into your web server and go to your wp-content/plugins/gravityforms folder and see what is there. I would suggest deleting it and re-installing Gravity Forms via FTP.

Gravity Forms isn't going to spontaneously stop working. Something had to have happened on your site or server to cause the issue.

  6. I think it hasn't been working since I attempted updating it, so maybe the update corrupted it? This was maybe 2 days ago.

  7. tantracoach, have you logged in to the web hosting account and deleted the old plugin folder, then manually re-installed using FTP? I think that will be your first step.

Deleting the plugin files like this will not change any configuration, form entries or forms. It just replaces the plugin files. Then log in to wp-admin and see if you can activate the plugin.
