How to populate a field with the name/headline, that disappears when the user...

  1. I'am not exactly sure how to explain what I would like to do, and therefore it is difficult to search the forum for an answer, here it goes:

Instead of using the title of a field as a header, I would like that the fields in my contact form, does not have headlines, but instead the name of the field is written inside the field, grayed out, and as soon as the user clicks on the field, to fill in the information, the text disappears.

Is this possible with Gravity forms?

  2. What you want is inline field labels, so the field labels appear within the field input itself. Gravity Forms does not currently have this feature. It is a feature we would like to add in the future.

  3. Thank you for your quick answer, I could really use this feature now :-)

Do you have any idea of when it will be available?

  4. I don't have a timetable that I could give you. We have a bunch of features we are working on for the 1.5.3 release. Currently this field label enhancement is not one of them so this wouldn't be an option until later in the year.

Sounds like you want to take advantage of placeholder text, which is a feature of HTML5 but not yet a part of Gravity Forms.
