Instead of starting from point, in IE9 thingy draws the first straight line from the border of the field to the starting point of the signature. How to avoid that?
In WebKit everything OK.

I noticed this problem too with IE9, don't know about other versions of IE. Works fine in other browsers. Can you guys get this corrected soon?
Any word on a fix???
Nope. We'll look into it, see if we can recreate it here and if so, see what we can do to fix the issue. I didn't see any issues in the initial release on my side.
Do either of you gents have a publicly accessible form URL that we can test your affected signature field?
Sure.. http://flatfeerealty.com/getstarted/hartford/ click on step 2 and scroll down towards the bottom.
Thanks Fred, that will help. I'll give it a look and see what I can find out.
Hey Fred, didn't forget this one I promise.. having to do some additional testing on my dev site. Will let you know what I find out.
Fred, we've tested this in a few different setups and can't recreate your issue. I DO see what you're talking about on your site, but it's working properly in IE9 on our implementations.
That said, there's something wonky about your theme/plugins that is causing the issue. It's most likely some kind of a script conflict with the signature library.. it looks like the starting position for the cursor is being improperly set. You're going to need to walk through the process to test for conflicts and see what you can find. Try switching the theme, toggling plugins or other scripts on and off until you can find the offender.

Kevin, I have just tried deactivating plugins and default 2011 theme, still have the same issue on IE9. I am not the only one experiencing this issue. Have you tested it with multiple signatures on one page? Also using conditional logic to hide/show depending on radio options. Don't know if that has something to do with it. I can export my form and email the XML file to you? - Fred
Others could be having a conflict too.. that's not to say that it's a true issue with the plugin. We'll see what we can find.
Yep, please export your form and send it to me at kevin@rocketgenius.com. Please include the URL to this topic too so I can reference back to it. Thanks.
We've found a couple of oddities in IE9 that we're looking at. The signature script itself is something we've integrated from a third-party so our lead developer is going to get in touch with them and see what we can find out. The signature add-on is still technically a beta for just this reason.. we're still sorting out some of these unforeseen issues.
Great thanks for looking into this! Love it so far.
Sure. We appreciate the feedback.. it helps us keep refining and improving. We'll figure this out asap and probably release a new version of the add-on sometime soon.. at least another beta.
I have got the same problem on IE9 browsers. I believe it is theme related.
I left all my plugins enabled and switched to the Twenty Ten theme and the problem dissappeared.
I then changed to the Twenty Eleven theme and the problem came back. It occurs on my theme (a purchased theme).
So if anyone knows the difference between the Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven themes then there is a clue to work with at least.
I dont have 2010 theme, but I dont think its theme related or plug-in related. I hope they can resolve this soon. I know it's in Beta, but it works so great I am using it live on my site! Just that one issue with IE9 for me.
Any luck figuring this out?
Alex was working with the script developer to figure this out. I believe there is an updated version of the signature script but it introduced another potential bug so they were working through that. I'll follow up with him this afternoon and see what I can find out.
Just to muddy the waters - I gave my form a try using opera (latest windows opera version, latest wordpress version, latest Gravity Forms version).
The signature box is displayed and you can move the cursor around as if signing, but it seems to me to be using invisible ink!
@TCS you should start a separate post for this issue as it has nothing to do with the issue in this post.
Just to add, we've had this same bug, but only a few IE9 users have commented about it. we haven't been able to reproduce it ourselves, we've only heard some users comment about it. http://petition.liberal.ca/sign-card-anniversary-charter-rights-jean-chretien/
^^
In IE9 I experience the glitch. Both on the site above, plus the form on my site. Opera users are out of luck...perhaps soon it will work for the 3%.
If you start drawing from the bottom, you will not see the glitch. You must start signing from the middle. Visit the screenie @ http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34614758/gf-ie-sign-bug.jpg
This extension is great!
I'll follow up on this and see what I can find out.. the last word I had was that our developer was working with the developer who actually wrote the signature piece about the issue. There was a newer version of the script but it also had a couple of bugs that they were trying to work out before we released another updated version of the add-on.
Thanks for looking into. Can also confirm that it occurs on a site of mine running latest versions of everything (wp, php, gravity forms, GD Lib) using IE 9.
For the user saying it simply writes nothing as in 'Magic Ink', this is most likely because you're running IE 9 in compatibility mode. Press F12 and switch the browser to 'IE 9 Browser mode'.
I spoke with our programmer Alex this morning and nothing new from the other developer.. he's going to contact the signature script dev again and see what we can find out on that. We'll try to get a new beta version out as soon as we can get some kind of fix for the IE9 issue worked out.
Any updates with this issue?
This is a cool add-on to the already stellar Gravity Forms. I'm experiencing the same problem as well, though. A fix would be awesome.
I have upgraded to the Version 1 (non beta) signature plugin and still getting problems with IE9 but it is slightly different now.
With this new version using IE9 on my windows PC I start a signature ok from a point using my mouse (START POINT) - but then when I release the mouse button, reposition to draw some more it draws a straight line back to the original START POINT. Every time I reposition and commence drawing, it puts a straight line back to the START POINT again.
Then when I use the refresh the signature pad button it clears everything (good) but as soon as I start a signature again it puts back the messed up one ?
I have a form with just the signature field here http://bit.ly/KcgjD5
Also when using SSL on IE9 there is some kind of mixed content problem and the mouse completely dissappears over the signature box (no pen, no nothing). See here http://bit.ly/OD4iIC I have the wordpress HTTPS plugin running.
Both of the problems appear in form preview mode as well as on the frontend.
@tcs, experiencing the exact same issue - refreshing and resigning brings up a tangle of all previous attempts. Have you made any progress or discovered a fix yet?
@gotequity - just been patiently waiting (22 days now) for support - maybe I am supposed to raise a priority support request ?
If you have a developer license, you certainly have the option of submitting a priority support ticket. I'll remind the developers that this issue is outstanding and have them update this topic with any new information they may have.
Hi Chris,
Sorry I thought as you need a developers licence to use the plugin - this thread would receive priority by default. I will wait a bit longer and then raise a priority support ticket if nothing continues to happen here.
Because the problem was immediately raised after the announcement "The Signature Add-On has graduated from beta release status to full v1.0 release status." I was thinking this would get some kind of attention.
Looks like I was wrong twice - but I'm learning :)
No need to wait. Please do open a priority support ticket. Tickets there are in a queue as well and it's worth getting in there early to ensure you receive the proper attention. Thank you, and sorry for the lack of attention to your issue. I did email the developers earlier this evening about this topic.
After raising a priority support ticket I have received an updated version that seems to correct all problems with IE signing. I suspect everyone will get this update in due course.
Great. Thank you for the update.
