Is gravity forms the right tool for this job?

I am trying to replicate some of the functionality found on the gravity website. Specifically I will be selling products just like gravity does, and then provide support forums to paying members.

I notice that since I do not currently own the developers license, that I am not allowed in the forums for the addons. Yet I still have access to the gravity forum as I purchased the product.

What I am trying to do:

A user purchases a product, and behind the scenes they are then allowed to access a support forum specific to that product. All non-members of the product cannot see the forum posts.

I have seen a lot of websites like gravity following this model, but have yet to see a set of tools anywhere that will allow this to happen easily.

I would love to hear how gravity is handling this, and whether or not I should purchase the gravity developers license in order to accomplish the same. At the moment, I have no idea what forum/plugins to use to accomplish this task.

    thank you

  2. Gravity Forms itself isn't used for the customer access integration of our support site.

We use bbPress and have written custom code to integrate WordPress, bbPress and our order database to facilitate the access control functionality. We then use e-junkie.com to facilitate the actual transaction and affiliate marketing functionality. So it isn't Gravity Forms that does what you are describing.

It's possible to use Gravity Forms to sell digital products using the PayPal Add-On and register users using the User Registration Add-On, but to do what you describe would still take custom code to implement things the way we have them here on our support site.
