Latest version of Paypal Add-on - can it cause problems?

  1. Hi.
This is a slightly premature post, as I'm investigating other avenues at the moment, but....

I upgraded the user registration and paypal add-ons to the latest version this evening on my client's site. When I tried a quick registration via the usual registration page, instead of passing me to paypal to collect payment I was sent straight to the registration confirmation page. When I checked in the dashboard, my user had been created BUT the custom post type that should be also generated hadn't been. This process has been working ok previously. I'm just confirming with the client that she hasn't changed anything else that could have affected this. One change was made very recently to the form to increase the product price, and I'm not convinced they have had any new members since this was done - so this might also have caused the problem.

Can you think of anything that needs to be done post-add-on upgrade?

Is there a way for me to install the previous add-on versions again just to discount this as a possiblity?

  2. You may have to remap the feed to the form fields if you made any changes to the form. I would start with that. Otherwise, I can send you and earlier version if you email me at chris@rocketgenius.com and let me know what version you were using previously.

I would try to troubleshoot the new version to get that working, since going back to the old version is not really a good solution. It may be a temporary fix though, if you need it.

  3. Hi Chris.
I've checked the feed and it looks ok (and I've re-saved it, deactivated and reactivated the plugins etc.), but it seems to have had no effect. I can send you the login details if you think you might be able to spot the problem quickly (would really appreciate a quick look to make sure I've not overlooked anything stupid). Otherwise, please could you send the previous version of the plugins (paypal addon v1.6 and user registration addon v1.4).
    Best regards, Martin

  5. Chris.
I have sent you the login details, but I think we have managed to resolve it in the meantime. The issue was that the active form checkbox in the Paypal Forms settings had been unchecked (presumably by the addon upgrade process). If this is the case, then it's maybe something that needs to be looked at, as it wasn't obvious that the box needed to be checked.
    Best regards, Martin

  6. Thanks for the email Martin. I will bring this up to the development team to see if we need to do something different here to prevent unchecking the 'active' box for the form.

  7. I am having the same problem, and this is a new issue (it had worked fine before on other sites). I created a new form and PayPal feed, yet when I submit the form, I get sent directly to the "thank you" message instead of to PayPal.

I am using Gravity Forms Version 1.6.12 and PayPal Standard Add-On Version 1.7 (the latest).

    Thanks.

  8. Please be sure the PayPal feed still has a green check mark next to it, indicating that it is active. If that is true and the form still does not work, please share a URL to the page on your site where we can see the form.

The form submission will not be sent to PayPal if the total is zero, if the feed is not active, or if you are using a PayPal condition which does not evaluate to true.

  9. I made no changes for more than a week, but ran into problems last week that parellel what others have experienced. I would guess that PayPal changed some aspect of communications.

My PayPal addon is listed as active.
The form stopped connecting to PayPal late last week.
Hitting submit stops with a spinning symbol that does not advance
