Multi-Site Registration

  1. I'm trying to setup a membership area on my multi-site installation. I have one site for the membership area http://www.mydomain.com and one site for support: support.mydomain.com.

I want people to register on the mydomain.com and automatically be registered for the multisite installation of support.mydomain.com. I know that if they register with the regular wp registration on the main site they will automatically be registered for the other site installation, however I'm wondering if this will still hold true with the Gravity Forms Registration Add-On. I would think that they would, but before I spend the next couple of hours setting everything up, I figured I would ask to be sure. Thanks in advance.

Currently the User Registration will add the user to whichever site they subscribe from. They are also added as a subscriber to the root site.

  3. If they subscribe on the root site as subscribers, are they also automatically registered on the other sites if I have the multi-site admin settings set to register all users across all sites?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure about that. I know they would be registered at the site and network level, but I don't know if they would then be spread around the rest of the sites. I would have to ask one of the developers. If it wouldn't take long to set-up, you could test it and let us know. It just isn't something I've run into before....

  5. Kev, please take a look at this post from yesterday. Does this answer your question?

  6. Kind of Chris, but I'm actually not 100% clear on what the OP of that thread was really looking for either. I'm looking for a straightforward answer to whether or not a user's registration will pass to all sites, as it would if they registered through normal wp registration. Is this the case? If not, how hard is it to make a user's registration pass through to all sites in a multisite network? thanks in advance.

  7. The user will be registered for the site where the form is embedded, and also the root site. That's currently it. They are not registered as users for other sites in the multi-site installation.

Are you using BuddyPress? If so, that might complicate things.

  8. Is there any way to prevent the user from being added to the root site? For our purposes, there's no reason for them to be added to the root site and it just clutters up the user data.

  9. Please see this post from developer David Smith: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/user-registration-setting-a-default-role#post-66550

In the upcoming version of the add-on, you will be able to dictate whether they are added to the root site at all and which role they would be assigned on the root site [...]

I don't know of an available hook to prevent them from being added to the root site right now.
