My forms are broken after upgrade. Please help me asap.

  1. Please help asap. I have a developer license. I am preparing to move a client to production and after upgrading to 1.6.4.5.4 some of my forms are NOT WORKING. Please tell me what to do or hook me up with the last stable version of Gravity Forms asap. To see nav to http://distributor.emergertest.com

    You will have to login:

    Username: testdistributor
    Password: password
Under the "Distributor" nav you will find 4 pages (each has a form). The "Custom Vanity Sink" works. On the other ones the "Submit" button does nothing. All forms worked prior to my upgrade. I need resolution as soon as you can please.

  2. Update: Still having issues. Removed GF and did a clean install of 1.6.4.5.4. Created new form (called "Test Form" if you visit link). Basic form with a single pricing field. This one is working but note that it does NOT work in preview mode when building and testing form. I'm having problems in preview mode for some forms (some are not showing at all, others just are note working) and some forms aren't working in live mode while others are. Please help.

If it isn't working in preview mode, this means you have a theme or plugin conflict, please try the following instructions to figure out why this is happening:

I'm also assuming that the forms not working live are the ones with conditional logic.

  4. Hi David. I will check out the conflict thing for "preview" mode in a bit. Trying to get these forms working in live mode first because client is reviewing today. Note that even if it is a theme or plugin conflict, please note that no such conflict existed prior to my upgrade. So, it was performing the upgrade that caused this issue in preview mode.

Regarding live mode, I'm making a bit of progress. I had an embedded HTML calculator (using HTML block) that worked perfectly fine prior to upgrade, and no longer works after upgrade. I can embed calculator into sidebar as a workaround because removing the HTML block from forms seems to make them work again. I would prefer to see this researched at some point because it should work within the form as it did prior to upgrade.

However, I do have one issue still: After removing the HTML block a form seems to work until submission. Upon submit it gives me an error "There was a problem with your submission. Errors have been highlighted below." The highlighted fields are all single product fields where it is telling me to enter a valid value. The current value is null and that should absolutely be a valid value (and it always worked prior to upgrade). How do I fix this?

We continue to develop Gravity Forms following the lead of WordPress itself, just because an update breaks something, doesn't mean it is the fault of Gravity Forms, but instead it could be Gravity Forms shining a light on another potential issue. With all the use cases for Gravity Forms, we've had to become very strict in our development, and as such, JavaScript issues continue to be a source of pain and frustration for our system. We try to add new features, which requires more complex JavaScript that can be easily broken by a conflict or error.

I understand your frustration, and I hope we can work together in solving any issues you might have.

What did you mean by an HTML calculator? Have you tried setting a default value of 0 or null to those fields? I will check with the dev team, but I think we recently made an update to those fields in order to help someone that was dealing with recording zero and null values.

  6. Yes. I have tried 0 and other numbers. Somehow the form seems corrupted because if I rebuild the identical form from scratch then it appears to work. However, I have 16 forms to rebuild so this is going to be all I will be able to do today.

I understand that it is not something that is "wrong" with gravity forms (in terms of the preview working vs. not working). I'm just pointing out the fact that it worked prior to the upgrade and did not work after the upgrade. Whatever caused the preview to no longer work resulted from that Gravity Forms upgrade as there were no other changes. It isn't a matter of right or wrong in this case - and at least I can work around that - it is just a matter of the fact that it was the upgrade that caused the issue to be noticed.

One other thing for you to possibly consider? I'm trying - and have been trying for many hours - to troubleshoot my forms so as to provide you with as much info as possible. It would help me to help you if there was a way for us clients to set a field to be a draft vs. published field. This way we can go in and set certain fields to "draft" in order to see if it is a particular field causing an issue. The assumption would be that setting it to "draft" would completely comment out that field so that the form functions as if it were no longer there. Would you consider adding that functionality please?

If you duplicate a non-working form, does the duplicate work? And by duplicate, I don't mean re-building it, but instead clicking on the duplicate option when you hover over a form.

  8. No. Duplicate doesn't work. I tried that first. I've also exported and then imported into another install of GF. Also doesn't work. Stuff happens. I will rebuild but please keep this thread open. I will let you know if I experience any issues during the rebuild.

Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out why rebuilding would work, but no other method of copying the form would work. Before you go to all that trouble, can you deactivate Gravity Forms, and then delete it, and re-install from scratch (preferably using FTP)? I just want to make sure that in the recent update, that all of your files got replaced properly.

  10. Sure. I will do that and post back. I have to run out to a client meeting and will return in a couple of hours.
