Not able to choose "Name" for admin notification

  1. I have a contact form with a text field 'Your Name'. I want to use that in the admin notification as the "From Name". But there is no drop down there. I tried giving it an admin label of "Name" but that didn't cause the drop down to appear.

Is there a way to use this form field as my "From Name"?

I don't have a lot of submission yet so I can change the field type to "Name" if I need to, but I really don't need "First" and "Last" which is why I just used a text field.

Using WordPress 3.1.1 and Gravity Forms 1.5.1.1

Here's a screenshot of the notification screen for the form.

    Thanks.

  2. Only the Name field type is currently used for the From Name. So if you are using a text field, it won't show up in the drop down because it is not a Name field type. If you don't need First and Last Name then you can still use the Name field, just select the Simple field type for the Name which only has one field.

You could still use a single input field, but instead of selecting it from a drop down you would insert the form field variable into the From Name field in the Notifications. All those fields parse form field variables. So while only the Notification Message Body and the Subject have the Insert Form Field drop down, all of the fields support the merge codes.

  3. Ok, thanks Carl. That "Simple" name option works perfectly.
