Not getting email notifications from Hostgator Dedicated Server

  1. I have used GF on a few websites over the years but my latest install on a Hostgator dedicated server is not sending email notifications out to admin or user. Anyone got anything specific to check for WP on a Hostgator dedicated server? Thanks much!

  2. PS: FYI, we installed GF to replace a fully functional copy of Contact 7 (plus the database plugin for C7) which was working perfectly and sending out emails. Hopefully this rules some things out?

  3. I would start by installing an SMTP plugin and using the SMTP server settings from Hostgator, rather than relying on mail from your existing server. Some servers balk at sending unauthenticated mail when it does not come from an email address at that domain (for example, if your site is example.com, and the email address the user enters in your form is chris@rocketgenius.com, then the server may not want to send that, since it expects all the mail it is sending to be from existing users at example.com)
