Nothing Shows Up But Title

    Hello,

My apologies if this information is posted already; I've tried searching both the documentation and the forums and can't seem to find an answer.

My issue is similar to what is being discussed on this thread: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/using-the-form-to-enable-users-to-submit-content

However, I tried adding the code similar to what was suggested, and it doesn't fix the problem.

Ultimately, I have my form set up to publish as a (user-generated) post. When I get the admin notification, the form data is all there; however, when you look on the site (whether front-end or back-end), all that shows up is the title. That is, none of the data fields themselves show up in the body of the post.

Again, my apologies if this is a n00b error. I've been looking everywhere on how to do this. My guess is that maybe I need to modify my template's single.php file(?) If so, could someone tell me how to do that and/or if there's something else I should be doing?

    Thanks so much!

  2. So the Post is being created, correct? But only the Title of the Post is there and the content/body is not?

The first question I have to ask is did you add a Post Body field to your form and is this the field you are using to capture the content?

The next question I have to ask is if you DO have a Post Body field on your form, do you have the content template option enabled on it? If so what is in the content template field? Is it blank/empty?

Only the Post Body field will create the content of the post. If the content template is enabled, whatever is in the content template is what will be used to create the content of the post. So if it's blank, there won't be any content... even if the user enters information in that field.

Thanks so much for the quick response. Actually, I think that's where I got lost when reading the other forum response. <<blush>> I had no idea what the "Post Body field" was... and then after reading your response, I went back and looked again at my Edit Form console. I just found "Body" under "Post Fields" it and added it to my form (to answer your question, no, I hadn't done that). So I guess the next step is to check "Create content template" and then choose the fields I want to show up?

I am seriously giving myself a major <<facepalm>> right now, because I think that must have been what you meant before and I just missed it; the lingo threw me. I'll try it this evening and will let you know if it works. Thanks so much!

  4. You only use the Content Template if you want to insert OTHER field values into the content of the post and store it as the Post Body. If all you want to store is what the user submits in that Post Body field then you don't need to use the content template option.

The Content Template lets you control what gets saved as the post content by using field merge tags. You can insert static text, HTMl markup and merge tags. Whatever is configured in the content template is what will be used to generate the post body.

Oh, thank you! It worked! I figured out what you meant in the other post about where the code would go. (I was trying to do it in the .php of my WP template instead of the content template of Gravity Forms.) Thanks again for the quick replies! I really appreciate it. Great product you have here; it's making my life so much easier. :)
