Notifications not being received using Google Gmail Apps

  1. I setup a contact form on a clients site (http://www.sbcatholicacademy.org/contact/) though they are not receiving any email notifications to their email accounts. They are using gmail apps as their email program. I have setup myself as a bcc and I also use gmail app for my email and I get the notifications fine. We both are using our own @domain addresses, so it is nothing to do with an @gmail address.

Is there any known problem or solution for something like this? The fact that I am getting the email notifications but they are not is what is confusing me. I have tried multiple addresses for the clients.

    Thanks

  2. If you aren't receiving emails to a Google Apps hosted email on the same domain as the web site then this is a server configuration issue. You need to contact your web host, notify them what is going on and that emails sent FROM a Google Apps hosted email address TO a Google Apps hosted email address are not working properly when sending email via PHP.

We have had other customers who had the same issue and they contacted their host to clear it up. We also had the same issue with BlueHost, we contacted BlueHost and they made a change and it fixed the problem.

The issue has to do with how the DNS is setup with the MX records with how the Google Apps is setup for your domain name. Google Apps is rejecting the email when it comes from the same domain as the email address it is being sent to.

  3. Thank you Carl for the extremely quick reply! This particular site is hosted with MediaTemple so I will contact them right away.

    Thanks again.

  4. Hi. I was having some similar issues of not receiving email notifications from Gravity Forms, not even to admin or BCC to a yahoo account.

Here's what fixed it according to Hostgator:
"The phpinfo page for my primary domain showed that a complete path to sendmail was not defined. I have copied a complete php.ini file into the document root for that site (and copied in the adjusted parameters for max upload filesize, max post size and max execution time) and now the proper path is reflected."

This fixed it. Hope this helps.
