Notification routing does not work

  1. If notification 'Send to' is set to a singular email address, notifications WORK.
If notification 'Send to' is routed to various emails depending on user input, notifications DO NOT WORK.

    SMTP is working.

Are you using a SMTP plugin? If so, could it be stripping out things?

What are you using as the qualifications for routing? Are you using the latest versions of Gravity Forms and WordPress?

Have you gone through our Notifications troubleshooting? http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Troubleshooting_Notifications

  3. GF version = 1.7.2
    WP version = 3.5.1
SMTP Plugin = WP Mail SMTP

Routing qualification scheme: Send to "email@address.tld" if "user selection" is "one of selectable options"

I have ten selection options for the notification to send based on. Upon writing this, I went back in and changed the "is" to "contains" and now the system seems to be working although I have not tested all 10 routing options.

That said, "is" should be the correct qualification, however it is not working and "contains" allows for some aspect of slop to be disregarded as compared to the exacting nature of "is". Yea, you know this, but maybe this little bug is a viable candidate (whatever) for an upcoming release.

Thanks for the schmatic breakdown of troubleshooting process. I can never get enough of the "have you tried plugging it in" fundamentals...

    Cheers,
    dh

  4. Nevermind. That wasn't it. Again -

    GF version = 1.7.2
    WP version = 3.5.1
SMTP Plugin = WP Mail SMTP

  6. Done. As said previously, the SMTP is working if the notification is set to deliver to ONE email address, however a notification setup for routing is not working.

Strangely, when I review a submission from the form within the wordpress "entries" area, a dollar amount is being arbitrarily appended to the selection that routing is based on.

An Example of the data is like this: "Entry-Selection ($101.00)"

I've rebuilt that part of the form, and the ($n.nn) dollar amount still appends.

    Any ideas on that?

  7. EXACT same issue as above except that ours doesn't work when "send to" is set to "select a field" and "email" (which is defaulted in the dropdown) is selected. Again, if I select "send to" as "enter email" and fill in an email address it works as advertised. No unusuual characters show up in the entries section under the emaiI field. have run through the notification troubleshooting and the webhost has gone over all the settings. Appears to be a glitch in the form. HELP!!!!

  8. BUT - if I swap the filed FROM a drop down TO a radio checkbox selection, then SET the ROUTING to ROUTE based the user radio checkbox selection, it WORKS.

@Ch, so maybe if you can, swap out the dropdown for a radio select for a hack-fix. That's what I'm going to do for now.

THUS, the glitch is in the dropdown selection dealio (which is appending arbitrary dollar amounts to my options anyway (WTF is that about???)).

    Fanks bros,

  9. I don't believe that will work for me as I don't have it selected as a dropdown or a radio select that feeds it, I am using the "advanced field" specifically for email so that I get the features I need.

  10. Well, it actually didn't work once I set it up for the live site. So, back to square one. Now what is happening is, the system routes appropriately using other fields for parameters, but not the field I need to use for the parameters regardless of whether it is a radio selection, or a dropdown.

Ch - You submitted near the end of our support day on Friday. We don't do support on weekends, we had over 150 requests when we arrived back on Monday. We are processing them as fast as possible with Priority Support getting attention first. As for your issue, can you please try a SMTP plugin to see if that helps you with your issue. Also, jumping on an troubleshooting thread of another person makes it hard to keep in straight and help both people effectively.

ian - Please create your own thread and let us know what you've tried so far. We have linked to troubleshooting steps above.

david - Can you try to disable your SMTP plugin real quick and try? There is something strange going on here that I haven't seen/heard about before. We need to really isolate things as much as possible. If that doesn't work, can you e-mail me admin login details to your site as well as link to this thread so I can log in and have a look to see how things are set-up? My e-mail is peralty@rocketgenius.com

  16. Sorry for the blast David. I am just getting concerned about my time-frame and having this volunteer form fully functional. I will take your suggestion and let you know.
Again, I apologize for my anxiousness.

  17. Okay, our Webmaster installed WP-Mail-SMTP on Friday to attempt to resolve this issue. it still is not sending the emails. Would you like me to email you a login for our site so you can see if you can locate the issue?

  18. I am having a similar problem with the current version.

The email notification is not sent but when I go into Entries and click to re-send the entries they are then sent. Perhaps that helps find the problem?

  20. Unfortunately at this point I've got to roll on. What I did however, is change the dropdown to a radio button list, added an SPF to the email config (out of paranoia) and ensured SMTP via the same plugin Ch is rolling - WP-MAIL-SMTP. It functions. The bummer is that I do not know why. It seems there's something buggy happening with some of the fields depending on which are used for routing. Or, it could be the SMTP/Whitelist and so on... It never ends. C'est.

  21. Unfortunately David, I can't give up. I need an answer. I HOPED that the update that just came out would fix the issue but NO JOY. I need this fixed! This is such a great and well reviewed plugin I can't believe this hasn't showed up earlier.
DAVID PERALTY it would be great to hear from you or someone else on this SOON.

  22. My GURU found the answer!!!!!! and I am shocked and saddened that David Peralty nor any other tech people from Gravity took the time to flesh this out for us but here goes:

The notifications section DOES NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD. You CAN NOT have it send a response to you (as admin) and the client (or volunteer or whatever you call your form filler) on the same notification. Although it SAYS you can as it has options and choices indicating it can it CAN NOT. Here is the easy work around-
Set up the first notification to go to the email block from the form. Simple. THEN create a SECOND NOTIFICATION and have it be your "admin notification". It apparently can't handle two on one notification (even though it says it can) but if you have two separate ones it cascades through them and actually performs the function.

Shocked and amazed those who built this thing can't (or won't) take the time to help us work through an issue such as this.

I hope your support is better in the future..........

BTW David Peralty, please don't use the excuse of getting slammed with a lot of support emails: hire more people or go to phone support for us!

  23. Thank you, I had the same issued, and creating a second notification seems to have fixed my problem as well. Whew!
