Pass value from check box to another check box with different labels.

  1. I am wondering if this could be a work around for conditional emails to the person who submitted the form. Basically I have 5 Check Boxes that relate to 5 different departments. Well each of these 5 departments have a different leader. My idea would be if one check box was public and one was admin or I guess passive. The passive admin one would obtain the values from the public check box. This would give me 2 values hopefully. That way in the email to the person who submitted the form I can do it in a way that says thank you for your interest in (x) department. (x) person will be getting in touch with you soon. Doesn't need to have his email address attached, just wanted to attach a name to the email depending on that checkbox.

  2. Hi, horizonschurch,

It sounds like your goal is to include a specific leader's name in the email sent based on the department chosen on the form. Do you also need to send the email to the leader of the department?

Also, since you are using checkboxes instead of a drop down, does this mean the user may select multiple departments? If that isn't the intention, you should change that to a drop down.

The best way to do this would be to use the Gravity Forms hook "gform_pre_submission_filter" (http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Gform_pre_submission_filter). Using this filter you can get the value of the chosen department and conditionally create the email message with the appropriate lead. You could also at this time set the email address to which the message should be sent.

Take a look at that filter and let me know if you have questions.

    Thanks.
