password field - how to hide password ("password" becomes "********")

    HI,
    1) How can I set up a form so that a text field I am using for a password field will hide the characters when they typed (e.g. "password" becomes "********").

    2) In an existing form, if I change my text field to use the above method, will it break the connection to existing backend functions?

    Thanks!

  2. This isn't currently possible. But we are going to look into it and see if we can add it to the next beta release of Gravity Forms 1.4 that is in development. We just released Beta 1 and are working on Beta 2 to fix some issues. We will see if we can work this in. It will be an advanced option on the Single Line Text field.

    Carl,
Is there any way to hack it somehow using this sort of thing:

    Password: <input type="password" name="password"> etc.

I really need this for a login form I'm using. I've had over 70 requests that I hide their password in the last few days.
    Thanks
    Dave

  5. There isn't really any easy way to hack this. One user tried a couple of methods with jQuery but ran into some built in browser security issues related to password fields.

The option to set a text field as password was added today and will be in the beta2 release in the next day or so if you want to grab that and try it.

EDIT: this option was added into version 1.4 - you can make any single text field a password type field.
