PayPal Add-On: Send Notification bug

    Hi,
I have built a donation form and have attached a PayPal feed to it in test mode. In the PayPal feed I have the notification options "Send notifications only when payment is received" and "Admin Notification" checked. However, I receive the notification emails (both admin and user) before I enter any details into PayPal.

    My setup is as follows:
    WordPress version: 3.5.1
    Gravity Forms version: 1.6.12
    PayPal Add-on version: 1.6

Please let me know how I can fix this. Thanks.

  2. I am having a problem in the same area, but in my case, the notifications are NOT sent. I also have "send notifications only when payment is received" and "send admin notification only when payment is received". However, neither the admin notification nor the user notification are sent on paypal forms on this site, even when paypal emails indication payment was received have been sent from Paypal. The notifications from gravity form non-paypal forms on the same site ARE sent. Same release levels.

  3. The emails will only go out when the payment status is updated in your entry. That relies on successful communication between PayPal and your server via IPN.

What is the payment status of the entries where you have not received the email notification?

The PayPal email does not matter as far as the notifications being sent by Gravity Forms. The payment status needs to change from "Processing" to trigger those email notifications.

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. My problem is that I receive the notification emails even before I enter anything into PayPal. I've just checked the entries and they all still say processing. Please help.

    Thanks

  5. I see; your problem is the opposite of the one @jnelsonmoore asked about. I have the exact same versions installed as you and that is not my experience. You can test the form here. You won't be able to complete the transaction, since it's a sandbox transaction, so you should never receive the notification http://gravity.chrishajer.com/purchase-a-baseball-bat/

I would try remapping the form fields to the feed, and delete the old feed, then test the form again.

Also, if you test from the form preview, is your experience the same?

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the demo form; it works as it should.

I've tried recreating the PayPal feed and the problem persists. I've also tried setting it to Production mode and have got the same results. I forgot to mention, it's a donation form and I have set the transaction type to Donations in the PayPal feed. Can you try it on your end and see if the problem is still there?

The only other modifications I have for this form are:

    • modifying a posted variable to be a generated reference number using gform_pre_submission
    • transforming the autoResponder message via gform_pre_submission_filter.

    Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it's the same experience in preview mode.

    Hi Chris,
Were you able to replicate this issue using the Donations transaction type in the PayPal feed?

  8. Sorry, I did test this but must not have posted my results. I created a new feed and marked it 'donation' for the transaction type. and held the notifications until payment is received. Then I submitted the form and did not complete the transaction. I did not receive any notifications.

    Thanks, Chris. I'll try that

    UPDATE:
This case was a strange anomaly. I've imported the form to a clean install of WordPress and other strange things were happening. I decided to recreate the form and PayPal feed and it appears to be working just fine now.
