Paypal IPN failing

  1. I've just got a warning from Paypal that "IPN's sent to the supplied url are failing".

    Any ideas?

  2. @reverbstudios Is this happening consistently every single time or is it intermittent?

  3. I meant, Paypal actually sent me an email out of the blue saying there was something wrong with the return address. I wasn't aware of any errors up till then.

  4. If you view the entries for that were created, do you see the PayPal information associated with these orders (ex. the Status, etc.). Do the entries appear to be working fine? How IPN works is PayPal communicates back to your server. If for any reason PayPal is unable to communicate with your server (either due to an issue on their end, or an issue on your web server) then you may receive a notice from PayPal notifying you of such error.

You can login to your PayPal account and go to the IPN notifications and see the failed notices. You can also resend the IPN notification if necessary from PayPal using their available tools. But before doing so, compare your entry data with what is in PayPal and see if they had already resent it.

I've just been struggling to understand why my payments weren't changing from progressing to approved. I checked the IPN and it was saying sent.

It did however make me realise that I had the site behind the maintenance mode plugin which was blocking the messages.

not sure if that is helpful for anyone. doh!

  6. Yes, the Maintenance Mode plugin if turned on will prevent IPN from functioning because it blocks the request because it's not coming from someone logged in as the administrator due to how the Maintenance Mode plugin works.
