PayPal & Notifications

  1. Hi there,

    I've got a couple forms @ http://www.kickapoovsn.org/support-vsn

One is for membership and one for donations and both are linked up to PayPal. The problem is I am not getting notifications upon return to the site from PayPal. If I set the option to receive notifications before payment is successful, I get notification. But if it's set to send upon successful payment; I do not get notifications.

IPN is turned on and I think everything is configured properly.

    Please help.

  2. Is PayPal communicating back to the site and marking the Entries as Completed? If not, this is why the notifications are not happening. IPN probably can't communicate back to your site. This can be caused by a variety of things. But first verify that PayPal is communicating back via IPN and marking entries as completed or not.

  3. Hi Carl,

I'm seeing entries for the donation but the payment status is displaying as "processing" so this must be what you mean by IPN not able to communicate.

I keep on seeing this other issue too where sometimes the forms redirect to PayPal and other times just displays confirmation on the website. Don't know if these are related or not but I thought I'd mention it.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Jonah

  4. If the form just shows the confirmation and doesn't redirect to PayPal this means no Products were selected or the Total was $0.00. The PayPal Add-On only kicks in if Products were selected on the form and there is a Total.

If the entries say "Processing..." then that means IPN isn't communicating with your site. You may want to double check to make sure IPN is setup properly in PayPal. If you still have communication problems we may need further access to your site to investigate.

First thing to make sure is that your site doesn't have a Maintenance Mode plugin active, this will prevent IPN from communicating with your site.

  5. Well it's showing the confirmation sometimes and sometimes directing to PayPal. It's inconsistent. The total should be above 0 because in all the tests I've done, the first option for $35 is selected...

I did verify IPN is setup properly at PayPal and there is no Maintenance Mode plugin.

Should I send you access info?

  6. Yes, send us the WordPress admin login. In order to test the IPN we may need to look at your IPN History in PayPal also so ideally we would also need your PayPal login, which I understand the sensitivity. You can send us the WordPress admin login via our Contact Us form and reference this forum post and we will do some tests with the PayPal sandbox first.
