PayPal Pro T&Cs require use of Express Checkout

  1. I've seen mention of this question in another post: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/paypal-pro-submit-form-only-after-payment#post-56533

My client is concerned about using the beta PayPal Pro plugin due to this violation of PayPal terms and conditions. (i.e. PayPal requires that you also offer PayPal as a payment option)

Any estimate on timeline for the stable release of PayPal Pro plug-in that supports express checkout?

Or has anyone has any luck using both PayPal and PayPal Pro plugins together on the same form, using conditional logic or something to allow people to select their method of checkout?

  2. This is currently being worked on, but I cannot provide you with an ETA as we don't rush development and don't want to give dates that may not be 100% concrete.

  3. Ok, thanks.

What about my second question about using both the PayPal Standard and PayPal Pro plugins together on the same form and using conditional login to decide between the 2 based on a user selection?

  4. Yes you can use the PayPal Standard Add-On and the PayPal Pro Add-On on a single form using the Condition option to determine which one is executed based on the user selecting one or the other from a field.

Technically PayPal does require Express Checkout when using PayPal Pro. However, it's something they don't actively enforce and it's something that we weren't even aware of until we had completed the initial PayPal Pro implementation.

We weren't the only ones that weren't aware of it, we reviewed a lot of shopping cart applications (both WordPress plugins and non-WordPress plugins) and they implemented PayPal Pro the same way we did... without express checkout. So there is a lot of confusion over what is and isn't required in the community, something that isn't surprising as PayPal is a very disorganized company.
