PayPal Resubscription

  1. Scenario: A user cancels his subscription (or it expires) and his role is changed. A couple of days later he wants to renew his subscription. What should he do?

I imagine he should simply use the same form to subscribe again. But the details are what bothers me - is he supposed to enter his existing username+email again? Would the form know that there is no need for a new user registration but simply assign the correct role to the user upon submission/payment? And what if these 2 fields are set as "No Duplicates"?

And one additional question - partially related:
How can I just offer a 1-year subscription without automatic renewal? I don't see a suitable option in "Recurring Times".

    Thank you in advance.

  2. I have a similar question about existing users upgrading or downgrading through Paypal and this. I've run into a situation where it appears that the Cancel subscription handler isn't being triggered from paypal and I believe it is because your implementation requires the User Registration upgrade/downgrade options be associated with the paypal form. The problem then is (afaik) adding the User Registration extension to an paypal "user role upgrade" form won't work because it is only useful for New Usernames. That we can't tie User Reg. into a form for existing, logged in users who are simply trying to upgrade.

RG, please let me know your thoughts on this and what my options might be. Thank you!

I'm also hoping to find out more about this! I was really excited to find out that Gravity Forms + the PayPal and User Registration add-ons would meet my client's needs, so I went ahead and implemented it, but now I'm stuck with this new problem and I don't know what to tell my clients. Any info would be appreciated!
