PayPal Standard vs. Pro for GF?

If GF does not work with PayPal Pro API why is it an option? I purchased GF with the intent on using PayPal Pro to process donations. Can this be done with PayPal Standard if I have a PayPal Pro account? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I'm now in a tail spin about how to process donation payments (one-time, reoccuring, etc.) and unclear what can/cannot be done with the GF PayPal addon. Can you please help?

Many people have the old PayPal Pro API, hence why it exists. We are nearing the release of our new PayPal Pro Add-on for Gravity Forms. You can take donations using Paypal Standard as well, it would be exactly the same.

My understanding is they are not the same. I want the transaction completed without directing the user to PayPal. Can that be done with paypal standard? If not, can you please tell me how soon the new pro version will be ready? Thanks

It cannot be done with Paypal Standard, and the new Paypal Pro is in testing to confirm it is ready for a beta release (will be listed on our blog when it goes out). The full release should happen soon after. Normally, I wouldn't speculate on releases, but we understand how many developers are frustrated by Paypal's change of API's and how it has caused issues in using Gravity Forms.

I have a Paypal Pro account with a Legacy API. How do process donations with GF? The non-profit wants the donor to enter any $ amount, not have set amounts. How is this done with GF + PayPal Addon?

Also, if the donor wants to make recurring payment for 3, 6 or 12 months, can this be done with GF?

Your help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

  6. PayPal Pro update ready for beta? My company would love to test it! If not, when can it be expected? Paypal won't work with me to acquire the legacy API, and receiving payment with form submission is vital for us.

I can't say more than I have already, I'm sorry. It will be mentioned on our blog as soon as the developer beta is ready.

It was discussed in our last meeting, and we are getting close everyone. We are currently working on migrating the code to our new Add-on framework, and sometime shortly after the next Gravity Forms release, we will be testing it internally to make sure we release a quality product like you are all used to, and then a beta should come out for the new Paypal Payments Pro add-on shortly thereafter. It is still likely weeks to months away, but no longer should it be 3+ months at this point. Thank you all for your patience.
