Price Total Field Does Not Update

  1. Hi all,

Problem: Price Total field fails to show any values as price field options are selected in the form.

    Steps taken to troubleshoot:
I have read the forums, documentation, and the FAQ and cannot determine why this does not work. I have disabled all the plugins (re-enabled now) and still no total appears in the Total field as price field options are selected.

I have installed Gravity Forms 1.5.2.3 on a clean Wordpress 3.1.3 install with the default Twenty Ten theme and no extra plugins installed and the price total field still doesn't show the totals from the other price fields.

I have a simple form with these fields:
    Field 1: Name (Text Field)
Field 2: Option Set 1 (Pricing Field - Option)
Field 3: Option Set 2 (Pricing Field - Option)
Field 4: Option Set 3 (Pricing Field - Option)
Field 5: Total (Pricing Field - Total)

I have viewed the page with the form in a variety of browsers (Firefox, IE, Opera) with the same result.

    Any insights would be appreciated.

  2. Ah! It's all so clear now ...

I had Pricing > Options only. I have discovered that I must use Pricing > Product fields in order to get them to update the Total field. It's so obvious once one understands it, but is easy to fall victim to because the documentation didn't really *stress* (not saying it doesn't mention it) that the Pricing > Product field is imperative to the operation of the Total field.

    All good now :)

  3. That is correct. Option Fields are Options of a Product so you need to have a Product present in order for them to work. If you have multiple Products you would then be able to select which Product each Option is an Option of.

We are going to be improving this in a future release so that an Option Field cannot be added unless a Product Field is present.

  4. Grumpster2 can you explain how you got this issue resolved?

  5. @Anthony Epes There is no form at the URL he posted. @Grumpster2 resolved his issue by using the Pricing Fields correctly. You can't only use Option Fields. You have to have at least one Product Field on your form.

As I explained above, Options are Options of a Product and don't exist on their own. So if there is no Product for the Option to be an Option of, it won't impact the Total or the order. It needs to be attached to a Product Field.

If you have multiple Product Fields then the Option Field will have a drop down to select which Product it is attached to. If you have a single Product Field then the Option Fields will automatically be attached to that Product.

  6. I have this same problem, but I'm using the Pricing > Product fields. You can see the form at: http://agendalasvegas.com/?page_id=1899&preview=true. The pre-populated fields should generate a base price at the bottom and as the user selects different options the base price would change, but no price is listed. I viewed an earlier tutorial (PHPurchase) video and they typed in the price in the Label field. That doesn't make sense as the price field is right next to it.

I'm using a Cart66 integration if that has anything to do with the issue.
