Question about bounced messages

  1. Hi, I know this isn't an email server support forum, per se. But I am wondering if GF has any settings that might help.

Most email sent from GF goes through just fine.

Some messages are bounced back with this error:

Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
    recipient@email.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<webserveruser@web.host> SIZE=9997:
host mail-relay.msln.net [130.111.32.28]: 550 5.5.4 <webserveruser@web.host>... Domain of sender address webserveruser@web.host refused. MX points to hosts without valid addresses. This violates RFC 1035/2181.

Any clues as to how to fix this? Thanks.

  2. Are you using a WordPress SMTP plugin to send email or are you using a standard WordPress install with no SMTP plugin?

  3. Carl, thanks for getting back to me. We're using a standard WordPress MU install. No SMTP plugin.

  4. This will be due to your server setup with how you have your MX records set. Doing a quick search on Google for that error message "MX points to hosts without valid addresses." brought up a few results.

    Here is one:

The recipients email server is configured in such a way that it has very strict rules so something with your server setup is causing it to reject the email.
