Require on a group of select option fields

  1. Hi,

I've searched for this but didn't found anything that helped me out.

I've got four select option fields:
    --------------------------------------------------

Please choose one of the following seminars:

    Basic
    - Date 1
    - Date 2

    Professional
    - Date 1
    - Date 2

    Expert
    - Date 1
    - Date 2

    Introduction
    - Date 1
    - Date 2
    --------------------------------------------------

What I want is to group these selects. They should be something like a required group. That means one of the choices has to be made and if one is made, the requiration is fulfilled.

Like a if Basic or Professional or Expert or Introduction is selected then required = yes.

You can find the testform here: http://www.potreck-institut.de/gm/?page_id=10640 (that site isn't public yet!).

    Can someone help me here?

Thanks a lot in advance and regards,

    Josch

  2. Option Groups (optgroup) are not a feature of Gravity Forms, so I don't think it will be possible to do this in one drop down with the form builder.

You could probably configure your form with conditional logic to show just one drop down, based on an earlier choice in the form ,a radio button selection of:

    Select your seminar type:
    Basic
    Professional
    Expert
    Introduction

and make the drop down fields always required. The hidden drop downs will not be required, so the form submission will go through even when those required fields are hidden by conditional logic.

  3. Hi Chris,

    thanks for your answer.

I talked about that with my customer. It should be possible for a client to choose one or MORE of the seminars at once. So your suggestions is not practicable. Hmmmm ...

Now I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere. A structured checkboxes 'field' would be a solution but a monster with all the dates - thats not user friendly.

Any idea how to solve this? I'm almost done with the forms, that is actual the only problem (but a serious one). Something like if {field1:1} AND {field2:2} AND {field3:3} == "" -> error

Thanks a lot in advance and regards

  4. The conditional logic in Gravity Forms does not support multiple conditions as you describe. You'll have to come up with another way of presenting the form.
