Send notification emails to all authors in post category(ies)

  1. Only willing to know if something like that is doable, I have thousands posts who are let's say "car sellers", each post offers cars in some location, each post has a different author, so all authors offers the same product (cars) but in different locations, my location represents post category, categories are countries and subcategories provinces and also cities, now I have a CPT post type form where people fill out the form to search for cars in different locations, I would like to know if it is possible to send data from this CPT form with notification email to all authors in post category, or to all authors in more categories (when using a checkboxes).

You shouldn't use Gravity Forms to send out e-mails to a bunch of people like this as it will quickly get your server marked as spam. You would be better having the various people in post categories also subscribed to some kind of mailing list on MailChimp or similar that sends out a digest of RSS feed links relating to the new items posted in their category.

So all of your vehicle sales people in Montana would be subscribed to the Montana e-mail list in MailChimp and receive a digest of new Montana posts on your site each day/week/etc...

Then MailChimp is sending out the e-mails, and not your server, and you wouldn't have to do any heavy lifting except make sure that new users are subscribed to the right list(s) in MailChimp.

  3. Thank you David for your respond , I will think about your solution, but I have a thousands categories (provinces . cities) and I can't imagine to create thousands mailing lists, and I am sure that hosting will never complain because there are only few people who will get the email per category = city (max 30). I was hoping that there's some option to grab all people in category Montana, city Nonamecity, so category Nonamecity (Montana is a big state, but I work more with provinces and cities) and grab their emails which will be notified. Thanks for your respond
