Show Post URL After Form Submission?

  1. Hello,
I want to create a form that captures simple information from someone that will allow them to create their own posts. I will not be requiring approval on these posts. I want the user to fill out the information, hit submit and then automatically create a post. This part I have been able to successfully figure out.

    My question is:
Is there a way both in the "Message Confirmation" display and Email Confirmation to automatically create a link to the post they just created?

    Something like:
"Thank you for your submission, you may view your post at:
    http://www.test.com/2012-03-28/test-post"

    Is this possible?

  2. I am looking for the same solution. Need to have the email display their post URL. I would like to have that URL in the confirmation email.

    Example: http://mybelovedmug.com/love-love-love-this-mug

  3. Hmm... Thanks for sharing the post Rob but am still not getting the correct URL to show up. It's much closer but the hyperlink is not working.

This is what I put in the form:
    View your submission here!

This is what is showing up and it's not directing to the right URL. It's some random "example" site.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

The URL is fine, it is how the URL looks before URL rewriting by your htaccess file and will bring people to the right post. This isn't an issue and will work just fine.

  7. No, it won't. I have the confirmation email and when I click the link (which shows html code...) it goes to a different page off site.

Can you show me the URL that it gives you in the confirmation e-mail?

That URL is working perfectly fine for me. To be able to support this further, can you e-mail me admin login details to peralty@rocketgenius.com please?

The detail the tutorial was missing was to mention that you need to be in HTML view to make these edits. Visual mode will mess things up creating the issue Gwen is experiencing.
