after filling in the form... nothing happens.
The submit button looks like it can be pressed but then nothing happens.
i have tried everything i can think of. I have installed the wp_mail_smtp configured it and sent a test email successfully.... still the gravity form does not want to play....
any clues

The email notifications aren't going to be sent until the form is submitted. From what you described, the form isn't being submitted.
Please provide a link to a page containing the form so we can take a look and submit a test form ourselves.
Issues with the form not submitting are typically due to server related URL rewriting issues. But if you provide a link we can take a look.

thought i would say the send message button does not appear until you choose i want to type a message....
i have configured redirection installed and i also have s2 member on the install.... although this page isnt protected...

I was able to submit fine with Firefox 6 on Linux, and got a validation error, which means the form is being processed. What browser are you experiencing the problem with?
