Is it possible for me to accept a one time payment and a subscription payment within the same transaction?

Only if you make the one time payment a "trial" payment. You should see this option in our add-on.

    Okay! This is good!

My next question is what if i wanted to take a Joining Fee, First Months Payment, but still start the recurring payment 4 weeks later. Obviously, first months payment and recurring payment can be setup with transaction type subscription. I still need to accept the Joining fee with checkout also. So can I have multiple transaction types set-up on one form?

You can only have the trial fee and subscription. None of our add-ons allow for multiple payment types in one check-out process.

Also, it doesn't appear that the total field acknowledges the Trial Amount. For example, $249 trial amount with a $99 recurring fee in 4 weeks. The Total field only says $99 although when you get passed to paypal the amount is correct.

The client has a diff. price for first or reinstate membership, so this Trial amount looks to be a solution for that. Trial amount of subscription will then be $10. for 1 year. then recurring join fee of $60. Two questions: How will the trial amount show to the prospective member? Do I make a field for it on the form? and, on Subscription type transactions (needed to control member access to members area) is there a way to have GF cancel the subscription after one year or give a choice to prospective member on whether to be recurring or not.
