Unable to export "Entries"

  1. I am running the most current Gravity Forms ver 1.3.8

This morning I ma unable to export all, or any, of the 46 entries made to the one form on our site at http://www.hatchtown.com/tools http://www.hatchtown.com/tools

In Firefox I get an "Alert" box saying:

Firefox can't find the file at http://www.hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/download.php?form_id=1&f=export_1263311331.csv.

and in Internet Explorer a window opens advising:

Internet Explorer cannot download download.php from http://www.hatchtown.com.

Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

I am being very careful as it has been awhile since I downloaded these form entries. I have been backing up my wp database on a daily basis but am not sure how I would extract the form entries from that.

Happy New Year! HELP! Thank you! Jim

  2. It appears to be a permissions issue. It can't find the file because the file wasn't created. Gravity Forms is unable to create the file which results in it not being found when the browser tries to download it. You may want to double check the file permissions on the wp-content/uploads folder to be sure Gravity Forms is able to do what it needs to do.

  3. Hey Carl! Checking things out I discovered about 10 csv 's that had all been created this morning as I requested the exports. They're all in hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/

I don't think there's a permission problem. For the record, the permissions for the "wp-content/uploads/ folder were 705 -- I changed that to 755, but am having the same result.

The browser seems to be looking in hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/export_XXX.csv for the export file while, as I said above, the files are being created in hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/export_XXX.csv

Is there a setting somewhere that I have wrong?

  4. Jim,

I just edited your post to put XXX where the export number was in those CSV files as they are accessible.

You said the files are being created here:

    hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/export_XXX.csv

And that the browser seems to be looking here:

    hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/export_XXX.csv

I'm confused because those URL's are exactly the same. I can paste it into my browser and access both just fine.

Are you not able to access it in your browser?

  5. Ummm, sorry! It looks like I might have gotten a bit confused while copying and pasting those URLs.

    The Firefox alert is:
"Firefox can't find the file at http://www.hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/download.php?form_id=1&f=export_1263311331.csv"

and the URL to the most recent .csv copied directly in my FTP program is:

    "ftp://ftp://hatchtown.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/export_1263329538.csv"

You can see the URLs are the same as far as "/wp-content/", the browser is then looking into "/plugins/" while the files are in "/uploads/"

Re your last question: I guess I don't know how to access files using a browser -- I've always used FTP software -- currently: FTP Voyager

  6. Update - Wed AM -- 10:15 EST (-5 UTC):

I tried the export feature over on my test site with the same results -- that's still the non-updated Gravity Forms 1.2.2

Again, at the test site, the export .csv's are being generated, but not into a folder where they're being looked for re the download process.

I do also note that the browser (Firefox) is looking in "www.shepherdjim.com" --

"Firefox can't find the file at http://www.shepherdjim.com/wp/wp-content/plugins/GravityForms/download.php?form_id=5&f=export_1263394491.csv."

while the URL (at least as I see it in my FTP software) of the folder wherein the file(s) is located is in "shepherdjim.com" -- without the "www."

    ftp://ftp://shepherdjim.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/5/export_1263394491.csv

As I've found the backup data and am able to download it via FTP I'm not freaked out about losing the customer info. But, it would be more convenient to do the "exporting" in the Dashboard Plugins section as designed.

  7. Hey Jim,

The download link acts as a redirect to where the file actually is. So that is why the download link isn't a direct link to where the file is on the server.

Hit me up via the Contact Us form with a WordPress login for this site and we can take a look and see what is going on.

    Thanks!

  10. I noticed there was a conflict discovered between Gravity Forms and a "redirection plugin". That got to me wondering if the "www" which is, or isn't. part of our "complete and true" website address might have something to do with this problem? I never understood it, but at some point our URL "lost" the "www" and I had to go to some trouble to re-introduce it.

UPDATE for anyone reading along here: Carl and the RocketGenius folks WERE able to log into my WP Dashboard and successfully export/download the form entries from my database. (???!!) -- The trouble APPEARS to be something resident in my browser and/or operating system.

I am having the same problem. I have been able to export form entries in the past. Using FF I receive the following message:

Firefox can't find the file at http://www.hotspotsafterschoolprogram.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gf_export.

  12. @vbush What version of Gravity Forms are you running? First you need to update to the latest version (v1.5.2.8) and then test. Older versions of Gravity Forms had a different export routine, so to make sure we are on the same page I need you to first update to the latest version and then see if the issue still occurs.

Hi Carl. Yes I am running that version.

  14. Is this happening in all browsers or only FireFox? Also, what operating system? It could be file permission related, make sure the Gravity Forms plugin folder and all of it's files are set to CHMOD 755 and then try it again.

However, oddly, I was able to perform the export this time from FF and IE but I didn't do anything different. Thanks!

  16. @vbush Good to hear. It was probably just a fluke web server issue.
