Uploaded Word file getting overwritten by previous entry

  1. I have a form with 3 file upload fields (1 is not always used). They usually work with no issue but occasionally one or more of the files uploaded will be overwritten by a previous file attachment. We even have text telling the user to name the file in a specific way to try to avoid have files with the same names.

This has happend 3 different times in the past year and it seems to happen when there is an update available for Gravity Forms.

Here is a link to the previous topic that was closed, but this is happening again and again: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/word-file-content-getting-overwritten-on-3-entries

    The issue form is here:

Any ideas on what is going on and how to prevent it?

  2. Same answer as before: this should not happen. Gravity Forms checks for the filename, and if it exists, appends a digit after the name, so there is no collision.

Can you share the filenames which are being overwritten?

It could be due to caching, I suppose. Do you have any cache plugins installed? If this is a Windows Server, there could be an issue with case-sensitivity.

Since this happens so infrequently, it's going to be difficult to troubleshoot, since we can't reliably recreate it.

Do you have any of the notifications where the filename/link is shown, then a new entry where the original file was overwritten?

  3. I'm going to try turning off the cache on that page. Thanks

  4. OK, with caching off, please let us know if you experience this again. We'll need more information to check into it when it occurs. See my previous post. Thanks.
