Use a dropdown field to post-custom-field etc

  1. Carl,

I am sorry this has probably been asked a million times before, but the forums are coming up with nothing.

I have a form I would like to create a post, I used the post-custom-field’s field … but would like a dropdown as well.

    1. is it possible to have a dropdown for post-custom-field’s?
    2. can you use any fields and somehow save as post-custom-field, by possibly transferring any fields content to a hidden post-custom-field field?
    3. am I being too convoluted?

PS already using custom post types.

Carl, If I don’t hear from you until after the holidays have a good one!

    Thanks,

  2. The Post Custom Field has options to set the field type. It can use a variety of single value field types, including drop down and radio buttons. It's an option on the Custom Field.

In Gravity Forms v1.5, which is a development/test release, the Post Custom Field also has Content Template functionality which would allow you to set it as hidden and populate it's value with that of another field using the Content Template functionality.

But out of the box you should be able to create a Post Custom Field that is a drop down. BUT you may need to be running the latest version of Gravity Forms, it didn't always have that capability so make sure you aren't running an old version.

    Happy Holidays to you too!
