I'm still puzzled by the behavior of file/image uploads from my post to this forum last night. That post is here:

Thinking that I may have done something wrong, I logged into a site that I developed which is running an older version of Gravity Forms. That site is running GF 1.6.11 and here is a screenshot of the file upload function from that site: http://screencast.com/t/Sm0UD0vlyuh
The site that I'm having problems with is running GF 1.6.12 and here is a screenshot of the file upload from that installation: http://screencast.com/t/Jh87hDubeLa
Both sites are using custom post types but I see many options conspicuously lacking from the latest version of the plugin, namely, "use as featured image."
Apparently, the older version stored media in the uploads folder defined by the site but the newer version stores images and media in a subfolder of that path and causes media to not play well with WordPress? I don't see this as being beneficial at all. I'm also quite dismayed by the file names that result from the uploads on the newer version. they morph into something unrecognizable ... a long string of numbers.
Why would these sorts of changes been made to the plugin when they appear to offer no real benefit for users and/or developers?

I leaped to a wrong conclusion. For images, the "set as featured image" tick box is still there. But what is still wrong is that Gravity Forms makes an assumption that all file uploads belong to the form through which they were uploaded, or something, unless you apply a path filter, which does not permit the use of wordpress globals so developers have to modify code as it is moved around from domain to domain. Can someone here please explain that decision?.
