Why are descriptions below the fields?

  1. This was apparently discussed as something that would be worked on a year ago, to allow some easy way to let people choose where the descriptions go. As it stands, it renders my form totally unintelligible. Is there any progress on this? I can't figure out how to do this with CSS.

We will probably make the field description configurable in a future release. For now it is possible to do so with some custom CSS. See Kevin's response to this thread above. Thanks.

  2. Yep, it's been a year and it's still on the list for a future release. There have been a lot of other higher priority items that have taken precedence.

You can either spend some time tweaking the input margins then relatively positioning the descriptions above the fields, or you can use some jQuery scripting to do that for now. There are a few discussions and examples of how to do that here if you want to read through theme.

  3. THanks for the fast reply Kevin.

I have to say, I dropped some coin on this plugin. Had I seen this as someone who can't seem to dig into CSS successfully because every.single.piece is dug into a <div>, it's not a good answer for me.

It's really quite counterintuitive to have this designed this way, where "instructions" actually FOLLOW the fields (including putting "first name" text AFTER the form itself... odd. And from the looks of it everyone does all the "Plus one" on threads over and over again. This isn't a cheap plugin for us developers, it seems like this needs to be a priority.

  4. Okay. Thanks for the feedback.

We originally adopted the description format from other similar form builders like Wufoo and Formstack who also place them after the inputs.

    Wufoo: http://bit.ly/qkIuaD

After a short while we decided that adding an option for the placement would be a good idea so that's where we're at now.

As we've said plenty of times, it's on the feature list and we'll be getting to that as soon as we can along with several other requested items. There's no shortage of feature requests and we prioritize them then go through everything as quickly as we can while still getting it done well.
