I too am having issues alphabetizing post categories. I didn't want to hijack a previous thread.

It is a brand new wordpress and brand new installation. For the life of me I can't figure out what it's trying to order by.

Sent. Thanks. Of course now Im not sure this is how I want to do it, or if i should use custom post types. Im not very familiar with taxonomies though, so Im not sure.
I'm not sure of the best way to do what you are trying to do either, but in my opinion you should stick to what you know you can get to work and manipulate.
