My question is now that Akismet is supported in 1.6.3 can I use it to replace reCaptcha which is near impossible to read and drives away commenters?
Does really simple captcha make it easier and as secure?
You can use enable Akismet and it will help filter most of the spam entries. Yes, in my opinion the Really Simple Captcha plugin/option is easier for end users to use. Still Captcha is Captcha so it's not really that "secure" it exists just prevents most of bot submissions. There are still actual human spammers that can defeat the Captcha to spam you.
Understood. I can click them off manually with ease. Thanks. Just that reCAPTCHA is just too damned hard to read. It was scaring away people from contributing to the site via the form.
