Does Gravity Forms respect "Do Not Track" feature in browsers?

  1. Gravity Forms collects the IP addresses of people who fill in forms. This is useful, but does it still collect the IP address if the form filler has the "Do Not Track" feature enabled in their browser? I assume it doesn't, but I couldn't find the answer in the forums.

  2. I would test it yourself to see, but I believe Gravity Forms will collect the IP address for every form submission.

  3. Thanks for the answer, Chris.

I just tested it, and Gravity Forms does indeed collect your IP address even when you have "Do Not Track" enabled. I'd really like to have the option to switch this off. Can this be considered by the Gravity Forms team? Or should I request this more formally through your "Contact Us" page?

Anyone else got any thoughts on this? I personally feel it goes a little against the spirit of DNT to gather a DNT-user's IP address, although I can understand that stopping this is perhaps not such a simple feature to implement.

I know that on Survey Monkey, you can switch off collecting IP addresses.

  4. You can start a new topic in the Feature Requests forum if you like. It's been requested before:

You can always delete the IP Address from the entry if you want, after it's recorded. See this:
