Export

  1. In trying to export our form entries, I'm getting one of two errors.

When I try on my laptop, I get nothing: I select the fields I'd like to export and the date range and hit "Download Export File" and nothing...

When I do it on my work laptop, I get this error: Unable to download download.php from http://www.zephyr-technology.com. Unable to open this internet site. This site is either unavailable or cannot be found at this time. Please try again later.

    Thoughts?

  2. Sounds like a web server issue. It's saying your site is unavailable. Are you running the latest version of Gravity Forms (v1.5.2.3)?

  3. And there's another issue. It says I'm running Version 1.3.11, but when I attempt to upgrade, it says: An error occured while updating Gravity Forms: The plugin is at the latest version.

    Hmmm.

  4. This is because you didn't stay up to date when we released updates and you have most likely upgraded WordPress to a newer version.

WordPress 3.0 changes the way automatic updates work with plugins. We released an update to Gravity Forms before WordPress 3.0 was released to make it compatible, but you didn't update at that time which means the 1.3.11 version you are running isn't compatible with WordPress 3.0+ as far as automatic updates go.

You will have to update manually by downloading the latest version of Gravity Forms from the Plugin Downloads page on this site. You can install via FTP or by uploading the new plugin in your WordPress Dashboard.

You will first need to delete your existing version of Gravity Forms. By delete I don't mean uninstall. Do the following:

    - Download the latest zipfile from the Plugin Downloads page
    - Login to your WordPress Dashboard
    - Navigate to your Plugins page
    - Deactivate Gravity Forms
    - Delete Gravity Forms
    - Go to Add New Plugins
    - Select Upload
    - Upload the new Gravity Forms zipfile you download from this site
    - Activate Gravity Forms

Automatic updates will work from now on... but this illustrates why you should always stay up to date with the latest version of Gravity Forms. We release updates that not only add new features but also ensure compatibility with the latest WordPress release as they make changes.

The Export Entries code in the newer version of Gravity Forms is not the same as the old version you are running, so that may resolve the issue.

  5. Thanks for the detailed response. Will we lose any of the data that is currently waiting to be exported if I delete the current version and install the new one?

  6. The forms and entry data are stored in the database so deleting the plugin files won't affect those. Just delete the plugin files from the PLUGINS page or from the folder via FTP and reinstall it.

Make sure you DO NOT use the red "Unistall Gravity Forms" button on the form settings page as that deletes everything (forms, entries & other data) permanently.
