Gmail entries tagged as phishing

  1. I have set my "from" field to be the users email address entered in the form. When messages come in through Gmail, it marks it as "This message may not have been sent by [address] - Lean More Report Phishing." I'm worried that people will think it is spam. Do you have any suggestions?

Have a look at this post by Joost de Valk - http://yoast.com/email-reliability/ Basically, your faking where the e-mail is coming from and Google can tell. You need to send from a real address on the server, or set-up a proper SPF record.

  3. Thanks for the quick response. That's what I was thinking as well so thanks for confirming. I've never setup SPF so could I just create a new email account like forms@directmediausa.com and use that instead? When I initially sent from the admin email I did not get this message.

Yes, an e-mail that exists on the sending server is also a way to stop that message from occurring. And Google learns over time sometimes, which is why you didn't see that message at first. All my best!
