re: Using Really Simple Captcha plugin (v1.2)

Instruction: Simply install and activate the Really Simple Captcha (RSC) plugin and 2 new Captcha options will appear on the Captcha field.

Result: Still getting the regular Captcha field with no RSC options. ("To use the reCaptcha field you must..."

Troubleshooting: Deactivated, deleted and re-installed RSC plugin. Still not working.

    Help?

  3. Try upgrading to the latest version of Gravity Forms. You're way behind here. I don't think we even had support for the Really Simple Captcha in that version. The current release version is 1.5.2.8 - you'll find it on the downloads page if you need to get it manually or you should be able to run the auto-updates from the plugin page if you have correctly activated your license key in the form settings.

    Thanks, Kevin.

Weird thing there. I did activate my key but no auto update showing in plugins. (It does on my other site.)

What would cause that to happen?

And, after a manual deactivation+delete of the old version and install of the latest GF... Really Simple Captcha now works fine.

    Thanks.

p.s. Still curious about why auto update wasn't showing.

  6. @nicheplayer It's because you are running an old version of Gravity Forms that isn't compatible with the automatic update changes introduced in WordPress 3.0. WordPress 3.0 changes how automatic updates are handled.

We released an update to Gravity Forms before WordPress 3.0 was released to make it compatible, but you didn't update at that time and then updated your WordPress version which rendered the automatic update functionality in Gravity Forms obsolete.

You will have to download the latest version from the Plugin Downloads page and manually install the new version. Automatic update will then work for future versions.
