Moved Gravity to new site - now won't auto update

  1. I moved my Gravity Forms from an old site that I'm in the process of closing down to a new site. Uninstalled it from the old site first, then installed it on the new site and entered the Licence key etc.

However, on the settings page it's telling me there's an update, but I'm not able to do an auto update so I'm assuming that I've messed up the move somehow? I searched the forums beforehand, and found several posts that simply said to remove the licence from the old site and install it on the new one - but that doesn't seem to be working.

What have I done wrong and how can I fix it please?

  2. There shouldn't be any issues with migrating your license key the way you did so it should work. If you send us a WordPress admin login for the site having the issue via our Contact Us form we can take a look and see what is going on.

  4. The issue is the version of Gravity Forms on this site is so old it isn't compatible with the automatic update functionality of WordPress 3.1.2 which that site is running.

WordPress 3.0 changed how automatic update works. We released an update to Gravity Forms prior to the release of WordPress 3.0 that made it compatible. Since you didn't update when we released that new version, and then you updated WordPress to 3.0+ this means the version of Gravity Forms you are running can't run automatic updates because it's not compatible with that version of WordPress.

This means you will have to manually update Gravity Forms.

    - Go to the support site
    - Download the zipfile for the latest version of Gravity Forms from the Plugin Downloads page
    - Login to your WordPress dashboard
    - Go to your Plugins page
    - Select Deactivate Gravity Forms
    - Select Delete Gravity Forms and confirm the deletion
    - Go to Plugins Add New
    - Select Upload and upload the new zip file and install the new version

Be sure to keep up to date with the latest version of Gravity Forms when we release updates. This is a good example of why you should always stay up to date with the latest version because as WordPress makes changes we make updates to Gravity Forms to insure compatibility with changes/updates made to WordPress itself.
