Multiple choice field issue when it is set to "required"

  1. Hello.
I am using gravity forms on a "listings" wootheme. When a multiple choice field it is set to "required", it reqires ALL choices to be selected (what would be the piont in that?). How can we set this to "at least one choice" being selected?
    Thanks in advance

  2. A multiple choice field (which is a radio button field) is a single selection field. This means only ONE choice can be selected at a time. When it's set to required, as long as a value is selected it will validate. Multiple choice fields only allow one selection (not multiple)... so i'm a little confused as to your question.

  3. Yes, you're right, sorry about that. I meant checkboxes. :-)
    Let me refrase:

  4. When a checkbox is set to required it shouldn't require all items to be checked. I just tested this on my test sites and had no problems making a checkbox required. When the checkbox is required it only requires at least ONE checkbox is selected to pass validation.

If yours is requiring ALL the checkboxes checked it sounds like something isn't working properly or you have a plugin conflict of some sort.

  5. Hmm...
I am testing on a local wamp server, and the only activated plugins are:
    Gravity Forms,
Gravity Forms + Custom Post Types and
    Gravity Forms PayPal Add-On.
Akismet is installed but not activated.
Does that mean that it conflicts with the "listings" wootheme, or could I be doing something wrong?

  6. It could be, or you could be doing something wrong. It's hard to tell, I just know nobody else is reporting this issue and I can't replicate it.

Create a New form, add a Checkbox field to it and set it to required. Save the form and test it. See if it submits with just one checkbox item selected.

  7. OK, you helped me narrow down the potencial problem.
This is what caused the problem: I had only 1 Checkbox in the propeties tab and had populated a cusom taxonomy in the advanced tab (so the checkbox had several choices). I put a 2nd Checkbox in the Checkbox properties tab and everything works fine.
    Thanks again :-)
