Multiple Image Uploads & Categories Help

  1. Hi,

    I require the following:
Form which allows to upload upto ten images. Each with their own Category. Once submit, then appear within the post for display on my site.
I have setup the form to allow users to upload 10 images and choose a category for each image.

But when I view the post created from the form, only one image appears.
Also, when viewing each category page that the images are added to, there are no images shown at all.

    How do I solve this?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Can you post a link to your site? I can't figure out how you're displaying images in categories without them being in post categories.

  3. Hi Chris,

This is a test post (the site is still in heavy production overall) http://www.inspiredworx.com/uk-wedding/huw-rowlands-4/

As you can it only shows 1 image from the 2 uploaded. At the top of content, it shows that there are two categories.

Am I setting it up all wrong do you think?!

What I want is to be able to upload up-to 10 photographs into 10 different categories.

    Thanks

  4. I'm not certain yet how you're going about it. How does an image go into a category?

Gravity Forms can create a post, but just one post per submission (and that post goes into a category). So, if you attached 10 images to 1 post (one form entry) you could display all the images on that post, but that does not sound like what you want to do.

If you were to post the images manually and put them into categories, how would you go about that? Do you just create one post and put that into a post category? Or am I missing something?

  5. Hi Chris,

I have a form (which can only be viewed by members) that asks (drop down) how many photographs the user wants to upload. If, for example they choose Two, then two Upload fields appear and two category fields underneath each image.
They can then upload their first images, and choose a category, upload the next and choose a category. And then submit it. This will then appear as a post.

Basically, I would like to do this:
Offer the user a chance to upload 10 images into 10 separate categories. Rather than upload one image into a category. Submit the form. And then go through the form process for each image they want to upload, is it possible for them to do 10 at a time?

I hope that makes it more clear?!!

    Thanks for your help.

  6. I don't believe that's possible. Photos don't have categories. It sounds like the photo would need to go into a post, and that post would be in a category. But I don't believe there is a way to create multiple posts with one form, and have different categories for each.

It's a little hard to help not seeing exactly how it should look, but I believe for the images to be categorized the posts they're attached to would have to be categorized.

  7. Hi Chris,

Sorry if my explanations are a little tricky to follow!

If I could just pester you one more time please!!?

My client wants a Wedding Photograph Awards website. I have an entry form setup that will gather the user's info and save it as a draft post for the admin to Publish or delete.
The entry form had this: Name, Email, Photo Upload, Photo Info. Submit.
Great, worked fine. The post was set to save into the category of 'entries'.

This was what was needed at first. But now, my client wants the user to be able to upload up-to 10 photos. And choose a category for each photo. Such as Brides, Grooms, After Party etc etc
So they could enter different photo's into different competition categories.

I hope you understand me better now and I should have said first time round I suppose!

I could also give you a link/admin access etc if you think it would be at all possible.

Thanks for your time, greatly appreciated.

  8. I think I understand completely, but it's not going to be possible with just one form (or rather, I can't think of how to do it with just one form). Just as you can't create 10 posts at once from the WordPress editor, you can't create 10 posts with one Gravity Form submission. In the past, with one post, one photo, the category where the post was assigned was also the category for the photo. You can't just display photos as posts. They need to be attached to a post. But the post will have the category, not the photo.

You could use tags of some sort, or a plugin like NextGen gallery, but I'm not certain what you want to do is possible.

  9. OK Thanks Chris for all your help.

My client will either have to live with having only one photo per post or pay for a total custom form job, which may be impossible?!

    Thanks again.

  10. I would not say it's impossible, but it will be custom. The big stumbling block is that each post will not be in a category, it's just an image in the media gallery, and attached to a post which may have a category.

As I mentioned, there may be image gallery plugins for WordPress that allow categorization and tagging, but Gravity Forms creates a single post at a time.
