form 1 is an active form. form 2 is a copy of form 1 but with a few enhancements.
How do you take the changes made in form 2 (field edits, text updates, conditional formatting) and change it with form 1 without losing the entries in the form 1?

You currently can't do what you are asking. You can make the same changes to Form 1 that you made to Form 2, but beyond that, their is no way of moving data from one form to another.
