Password Questions and Registartion

  1. Hi

I have a few questions with regards to passwords and would liek to know if possible and any suggestions.

    1. Can a password field just have the one entry field with no confirmation check
    2. Can the dot or * be removed on entry so the user can see the entry
    3. Can a password field be populated dynamically from another field or can a field be populated dynamically from the password
    4. In user registration add on, can the password field be popluated from any field other than "password" or "auto registered".

    Thanks

Can you give me more information on what you are trying to do? Other than your fourth question, I would have said that you should just use a single line input instead of a password field, but I'm not sure that you can register a user with any other field than a password field.

  3. Hi

My situation calls for the user to use their telephone number as the password. So i would like the user to have to only enter this in once, as point 1.

I deally i would like a number field for telephone entry that can then populate the password field for registration.

    Hope that makes sense

So after looking, I can't see a way that you can do what you want without some coding beyond what I can help with here. The user registration add-on wasn't built to allow fields other than the password field to be used to register a user. And the duplication of the field is to reduce user issues and is standard.
