Problem: Getting multiple entries from a single form submission

  1. For some reason on our Client's new Wordpress site, when the gravity forms contact form is submitted we get multiple entries in the database and via email notifications. These "duplicate" entries contain 0 in each field. Here are links to screen shots of the gravity forms entries screen in WP-Admin:

Any ideas what the root cause might be and how to resolve? Thanks!

  4. What you are describing is highly unusual and in fact i've never seen this issue before as it's never been reported as far as I can remember. Because of the nature of this issue it's going to be a site specific issue most likely caused by a theme or plugin conflict.

You have code on your site that is interfering with the form submission process, possibly manipulating the POST object which is causing this issue. That is the likely cause, although it could be a server related configuration issue... but a code issue related to a theme or plugin conflict is much more likely based on what you described.

You need to test for theme and plugin conflicts to determine what code on the site is causing this issue, something is interfering with Gravity Forms as this isn't a bug or problem with Gravity Forms itself. Follow the instructions here:

I also saw you bumped this post, just wanted to make sure you are aware of the support time policy for future reference. You can find it here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/support-times/

  5. Thanks Carl,

We do have a developer license and use GF on over 100 WP sites on the same server as this site. We are using the same set of plugins (and this theme, StudioBlue by Elegant Themes) that we have on many other sites and have never had any problems with conflicts before. Should we open a ticket in order to resolve? Thanks!

  6. Carl,
We've been looking at this problem more closely. It appears that in each case when we get the "blank" form submissions, the IP addresses involved belong to a common IP block owned by McAfee:

    Entry Id: 89
Submitted on: 2012/02/12 at 12:34 pm
    User IP: 161.69.30.163

    Entry Id: 71
Submitted on: 2012/02/11 at 6:56 am
    User IP: 161.69.30.153

    Entry Id: 46
Submitted on: 2012/02/10 at 1:37 am
    User IP: 161.69.14.14

    General IP Information

    IP: 161.69.30.153
    Decimal: 2705661593
    Hostname: dnv-scan018.scanalert.com
    ISP: McAfee
    Organization: McAfee

Has anybody every had problems with McAfee scans resulting in form submissions to a Gravity forms page?
