Recaptcha always fails

  1. I started getting E-Mails from my users saying they couldn't use my contact form because the captcha didn't work. I went and tested it myself (http://xavisys.com/contact-us/) and they're right. I'm running the latest gravity forms with the latest WordPress nightly

  2. Had to take it off the live site, but the dev site does the same thing, so I opened up access to it: http://dev.xavisys.com/contact-us/

  3. I'm assuming this was working fine before and stopped? I can't replicate this on my install with the same version. It's working fine.

Have you installed any new plugins? If so, have you tried deactivating them one by one to see if it's a conflict there?

  4. Hello Aaron, it is most likely a plugin conflict.

What you will need to do is test for plugin conflicts by disabling all plugins and then activate Gravity Forms and test it with captcha. Then activate each of your other plugins one by one until you the issue starts happening again.

You are running this on WordPress 3.0's nightly builds? Be aware that automatic updates with Gravity Forms don't work with WordPress 3.0 because of a change they made in how plugins are updated. We will be releasing an updated to Gravity Forms that makes automatic updates work when users upgrade to 3.0, however if you are already running 3.0-beta then you will have to install it manually.

  5. It looks like the problem was this:
    http://www.blaenkdenum.com/2010/03/recaptcha-marking-all-comments-as-spam/

And it was actually in WP-reCAPTCHA. Upgrading WP-reCAPTCHA from 2.9.6 to 2.9.7 let the Gravity Forms reCAPTCHA start working again.
